I swear I do...

I am serious guys i really love my country...
I spent the last half hour of our meeting convincing my friend that I care for India, I love India... He just laughed out loud every time i said that... I lost it... i swore at him, accused him of being apathetic... He took it all calmly and just asked me few questions........................................................

That changed me. Now i know why was he laughing. With his one sentence he convinced me that I just thought I loved my country like many others do in this country.
"Do you ever throw wrappers in dustbins??? Do you ever stop people who destroy public property??? Do you ever take the blame on your self for electing inefficient leaders rather than just shouting at them for their policies???"... This is all he said

This was not just for me it was for those 100 cr people who take pride in saying that they love India. Just thing about it, ask these questions to yourself and you will know whether you love your country. The next day I ate a chocolate and i made an effort to put the wrapper in bins, but guess wht no bins in my city....common its an IT hub, big deal who needs dustbins, bengaluru creates only e wastes we have recycle bins, who needs dust bins... i thought to myself and just threw the wrapper on the streets, wht if I dont follow one of the things I will follow the other 2 things that my friend said, after all we are in a democracy majority wins...which means even if i follow 2 things it would still mean I love my India...
The next day I came across a mob torching a bus, showing their anger, in protest to something, and just at a distance stood a old man shouting at the mob asking them not to destroy public property as it was their money, it was the money of the tax payer (now I know where the money that my parents give as tax to the government goes), but who cared the mob was busy in burning the bus, they ensured that they burnt every part of it (what dedication), i recalled my friends words about stoping the destruction of public property. I looked behind to see like minds but i was alone, then i looked at my watch it was 2pm, I had to meet my girl at 2pm, she was waiting, oh god what a dilema, it was like never before, on one side furious mob on the other side my girl who would throw tantrums if i were too late, I chose the peaceful way of meeting my girl on time rather than getting into an arguement with the already angry mob. I felt proud about myself, i chose the most peaceful solution to the problem...
2 down, I thought to myself coming back home , I will elect the right people this time and in this way show my love to my country India, the election day came, I had made my choice, i knew exactly who i was going to vote, i went to the booth, but... you guessed it right, my name was not there in the electoral list.........
But I still love my country, I swear I do...

  1. Bhagat Singh loved the country more than his life and his family. It is fine even if the normal people the country as much as one loves his girl ;-)
Coming to the dustbin thing, yes, it gets tough sometimes. I remember keeping the wrappers in pocket, holding the paper/plastic glass in hand till I get to a dust bin. We are a country of a billion people; though I do not expect Bengalooru streets to look like the ones at New York but I do accept that our people are not up to the mark when it comes to 'civic sense'. In Kannada, we have a saying "Hani hani koodidare haLLa" which means it takes several drops to make a lake; so every person reforming and correcting himself is a positive step in having a better India.
